  • Concept and challenges: The volumetry is generated by the ideal relations in plan between the different services. The main entrance is to the east. Creation of a canopy to protect the main entrance. This marquee, bordered by a planted hole, accentuates the axis of the promenade linking the CMC and the clinic for future births. A screen serves to conceal mechanical devices while refining the main body of the building. The different volumes on the ground floor are unified by a band which creates a simple reading all around the building. The reception volume pierces the main facade to announce itself as a landmark. It takes up certain characteristics of Shaputuan. It will be visible when arriving from Waskaganish road or Smokey Hill road. The reception volume will be double height, allowing light to enter on 3 sides, either to the east, to the west and to the north. It incorporates some characteristics of the Shaputuan, such as a sloping roof, curved walls and window mullions reminiscent of wooden posts that touch both the ground and the sky.
