Résidence Boisclair

+
  • Clients: Philippe Boisclair et Julie
  • Location: Montreal
  • Size: 2470 sq ft
  • Mandate: Concept, design, execution of interior renovations of an architectural house from the 1950's.
  • Concept and challenges: The Boisclair residence is one that reminisces of the original 50’s architecture and is protected by Montreal’s natural emblem that is Mont Royal, beneath which it is located. The clients, who wanted to do some important renovations to their house still with its original materials, turned to HUMÀ design to find a solution to fit their needs: to imagine a contemporary approach that would also showcase the house original Prairie Style. The space layout was designed in relation with the different openings on the park, particularly with its open courtyard vestibule. The insertions of noble materials in the integrated wall system, and the lower fireplace podium, as well as in the furniture, unifies origins and modernity. For a family with 3 children already active, the central points of the living area, as well the circulation area , should be defined first. The fireplace of origin is preserved, creating a link between the living room and dining room, the kitchen than, becomes the heart of the home, the point where all meet.
