• Concept and challenges: The Medal of Montreal is made to reward the Montréalers whose participated for the achievement of the city, whatever their professions, their scope of application or their ideas. Therefore the most symbolic gift to offer is the island of Montreal. The different layers of this medal show the international influence of Montreal, creating a sort of dialogue. Those layers in contrast with the round and convivial form of the medal also reflect the diversity of talents composing the city : everyone can find its proper perspective while being gathering in harmony. On the other side of the medal, the motto of Montreal, « Concordia Salus » inspired the material choice : the Labradorite (blue stone) is a stone which calm the mind and thoughts in harmony; the Natural Citrine (yellow stone) allow the personnal radiance helping the regulation of ego power-a good definition of Salvation. Those stones are carved and assembled in a metal receptacle, symbol of Montreal. Plated in electrum (metal alloy or silver) for the highest grade, the theme of "the coalition makes the force" is even more present in the most symbolic medal of the order of montreal. Followed by the medal made in Sterling Silver, the one made of brass (copper and zinc alloy.
