  • Concept and challenges: Located near Victoria Street and the commuter train station, the Saint-Charles area enjoys a prime location and is poised for significant transformation. Over the years, the industrial sites in this zone will be redeveloped and repurposed, bringing new life to the neighborhood. One of the major projects in this area concerns the Dare factory site. This ambitious project aims to transform this iconic site into an inspiring living environment, rooted in the city's identity and meeting the neighborhood's housing needs. With an investment of over 120 million dollars, the project plans to build 214 housing units, divided into stacked townhouses and multiplexes, thus offering a variety of housing options in the heart of the city. The redevelopment of the Dare factory represents a unique opportunity to contribute to the consolidation of the living environment in the Saint-Charles area. The project is influenced by the recognizable architecture of Saint-Lambert, incorporating multifunctional pathways resulting from well-initiated urban planning by the city. Additionally, the planning of shared green spaces and the continuation of the vegetative cover that characterizes the streets of Saint-Lambert enhance the neighborhood's green and welcoming character. In summary, this redevelopment project aims to create a harmonious and modern residential environment, respectful of the historical identity of Saint-Lambert and designed to meet the current and future needs of its residents.
