  • Clients: Elad Canada
  • Location: Pointe St-Charles, qc
  • Mandate: Expansion and transformation of the Nordelec building
  • Realisation date: 2015
  • Concept and challenges: The project expands and transforms one of North America's largest heritage buildings: Nordelec. The concept preserves industrial traces while keeping a contemporary spirit through the use of materials and artefacts recovered in the building that will be exposed in the common areas. The exploitation of copper as a common thread in these spaces is reminiscent of the industrial past of Northern Electric, which specialized in the production of electrical wiring. The urban lounge is distinguished by a custom copper lighting fixture and becomes the focal point of the layout. For all spaces, we favored the choice of noble and authentic materials such as marble and walnut and raw metal accompanied by some reflective and contemporary materials such as white and black lacquered to create a contrast with the century-old brick and concrete.
