  • Mandate: Concept & architecture of a resort in cozumel island
  • Concept and challenges: Discover Cozumel, our latest architectural project inspired by the paradisiacal island of Cozumel, famous for its coral reefs discovered in the 1960s by Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Today, this island remains a popular destination for divers and cruise travelers in the Caribbean. The Cozumel project draws inspiration from this rich history and the island's natural beauty, offering a design that embraces both the warmth and light of the sun as well as the cool, shaded areas. Oriented north to maximize natural light while minimizing heat, the building features a greened ground floor harmoniously integrating common spaces such as a pond, hammocks, a yoga terrace, and pergolas, fostering an intimate connection with the surrounding green areas. The welcoming entrance with a green portico leads to an open central space, including a gallery, a ventilation chimney, and a pond to provide coolness and shade. The residential units, with dual orientations, are connected by exterior walkways allowing for cross-ventilation, while the building envelope uses double walls and mashrabiya screens to subtly play with shadow and light, ensuring residents' privacy. Inspired by warm regions and materials that blend with the earth and rock, Cozumel adopts a minimalist and sleek design with a bohemian chic touch, creating an atmosphere that is both refined and relaxed. This project embodies a harmonious fusion of modernity and nature, offering a living environment where every architectural detail is designed for your well-being and comfort.
