ORFORD

A symbol of the Eastern Townships, the Mont-Orford ski chalet is entering a new phase in its history. Composed of three buildings built between 1960 and 2019, it now required an upgrade to meet the needs of a growing clientele and increasingly diverse uses.

Humà's mandate covers the complete renovation of the original chalet's interiors: bistro, Slalom Pub, cafeteria, changing rooms, administrative offices, and restrooms. An expansion of the Giroux room is also planned, built on the existing rooftop terrace to open up the space to the slopes. Outside, a new terrace with a stage will further enhance the connection between the chalet and the mountain.

In interior design, the team seeks to create harmony between the original architecture and the newer building. The choice of materials and finishes is guided by durability and resistance to the typical conditions of a ski resort: humidity, snow, and foot traffic in boots. The objective is also to reinforce the identity of the place with a warm, simple, and consistent signature style.

Through close coordination between disciplines, the project aims to unify the building's different eras and offer a user-friendly, modern, and safe experience. The Mont-Orford chalet thus embodies a renewed continuity, ready to welcome a new generation of skiers.
